Ford Motor Company experienced a notable boost in its sales performance for August 2024, with a 13% increase compared to the same month last year. The automaker reported selling 182,985 vehicles in the U.S. during the month, marking a significant rise and securing a 12.6% share of the overall market. This achievement not only underscores Ford’s growing influence in the automotive industry but also marks the second consecutive month the brand has been the top-selling automaker in the U.S.

A key highlight of Ford’s August performance was the strong showing of its F-Series trucks. Sales of these popular vehicles surpassed 70,000 units, reflecting a 12% increase from the previous year. This milestone is the first time F-Series truck sales have reached such levels in 2024, showcasing continued robust demand for these workhorses.

Ford’s commitment to hybrid technology is also evident in its latest sales figures. The company’s hybrid vehicle sales soared by 50% year-over-year, with a total of 16,394 hybrid vehicles sold in August. The Ford Maverick and Ford F-150 hybrid pickups were particularly popular, accounting for approximately 12,000 of these sales. In mid-August, Ford made headlines by deciding to cancel the release of a large, three-row electric SUV, opting instead to focus on hybrid technology for its upcoming next-generation three-row SUVs.

Electric vehicle (EV) sales for Ford also showed impressive growth, with a 29% increase in August, totaling 8,944 units sold. The Mustang Mach-E contributed to this uptick with a 6% increase in sales, while the F-150 Lightning EV pickup saw an exceptional 161% surge, underscoring the rising consumer interest in Ford’s electric offerings.

Lincoln, Ford’s luxury brand, also enjoyed a strong month. Lincoln’s sales rose by 49% in August, reaching 9,841 vehicles. The standout performer was the new Nautilus SUV, which experienced a 57% increase in sales, marking the best August for the nameplate in 17 years.

Overall, Ford’s August performance reflects a strategic alignment with evolving consumer preferences, particularly in hybrid and electric vehicles, while also demonstrating sustained strength in its traditional truck and SUV segments. The company’s focus on leveraging hybrid technology for future models and its ongoing success with both conventional and electric vehicles positions Ford well for continued growth in the competitive automotive market.
